UPDATE: Congratulations to both Lisa Ross and Jon Thorpe for successfully completing the 2009 London Marathon and a big THANK YOU to everyone who supported them. A couple of photos are posted below;
acs has a long history of supporting charities through running and sporting events. From the Cranfield University 5K run to last year’s BUPA Great North Run, acs’s employees are always challenging themselves and raising money for worthy charities.
This year two of our team take on the ultimate challenge as they run in the 26-mile Flora London Marathon 2009! Jon Thorpe and Lisa Ross are aiming to raise £10,000 in sponsorship for local charities close to their hearts.
Joint Managing Director Jon Thorpe explained; “We desperately want to raise enough money to make a real difference to the charities Lisa and I are running for. Firstly, the nurses at Cynthia and Bury Hospice for helping my Mum and thousands of others fight Cancer over difficult hours, days and months. Also for the emotional support they still give my father and many like him.”
“Our second charity is MK SNAP,” Lisa Ross added, “who give opportunities for children and adults with physical disabilities. Both charities are inspirational and we left grateful for their time and our lot. We have an opportunity to change what we have where many can’t, hence why they need our support.”
Jon Thorpe said, “We visited the new building last week and were amazed at the environment created, the work they do and the team helping those less fortunate than ourselves. We left inspired and as such were asking for your help and financial motivation in raising money to give those most needing the money they need. Make the time and go to MKSNAP or a similar charity, they also offer some business services. You will leave inspired, motivated and may be able to give them some business or/and your time!”
acs partner Claremont donate £1000 to help support us and pledge £500 more for Lisa to beat Jon Thorpe. Brendan Boyle said, "To help bring a competitive edge to things Claremont stake another £500 on Lisa to beat you – sorry Jon but we’re now in Lisa’s camp. Come on Lisa, Jon’s an old man!"
