Following months of training, Sunday 30th September saw a team of eight runners from acs office solutions complete the 13.1 mile BUPA Great North Run. Headed up by organiser and team motivator, Rob Young, the group included acs’s Joint Managing Director, Jon Thorpe. Keeping the pace besides Rob and Jon were
Lucy Keen, Hayley Murphy, Sarah Muse, Lisa Ross, Dustin Odell and Richard Necus.
Running for charities close to their hearts, the £5000 collected in sponsorship from colleagues, friends, customers and suppliers will be donated to MND,The Cynthia Spencer Charitable Trust and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
While the entire acs team completed the UK’s hilliest half marathon with finishing times of between 1 hr 46 and 2 hr 55, not everybody made it back to Northampton in one piece. Rob Young fell, dislocating and fracturing his ankle on the return home. Speaking from his hospital bed in Gateshead Rob said,
“I’m so proud to have completed the run before this happened. Everyone trained really hard to get to this stage and it’s a great feeling to know that our efforts are raising so much money for these cancer charities. These people help so many of us so it’s nice to give something back.”
Everyone at acs wishes Rob a speedy recovery with further donations being made in place of get well cards and wishes.
If you or your company would like to contribute to these charities it is not too late. Your support will be greatly appreciated by our runners, our chosen charities and the families they help.
